That year 5 of the semifinalists and 3 of the finalists were chosen to be given special "wildcards" when you can choose the appearance order number you want. In semifinal those lucky countries were Latvia, Austria, Andorra, Slovenia, Turkey. However, this didn't help Austria and Andorra to make the final. Armenia, Ukraine and Germany were the ones to choose the performing number in the final. It's known that Israeli entry caused much controversy due to the political message of the song, not in particular to any of the countries. That is why, I think, EBU (European Broadcasting Union) refused to disqualify this entry despite of other countries wishes to do so. Georgia, Czech Republic, and Serbia and Montenegro, but now as two different countries débuted in "Eurovision".

Marija Šerifović won in the contest with the song "Molitva" sung in Serbian. Interesting, that during the Serbia & Montenegro voting in 2006, the spokesperson who announced their votes told: "So, as you know, we don't have a song for you this year, but we promise that next year we will give you the best one." Who knew that this prediction would actually come true. Serbia scored nine "twelves", but, still, five other countries didn't give a single point to it. Serbia won so that means "Eurovision" is going to Belgrade next year. The second place was taken by famous both in Ukraine and Russia Verka Serduchka, or Andrey Danilko. She came second scoring five highest points and gaining at least one point from all the countries bar Albania. Europe honestly got the humour of Ukranian entrant. However, not all of such songs/performances get so much of appreciation or even succeed to a little extent. The second third place was taken by Russia. Group "Serebro" was formed especially for "Eurovision", but since its success girls have released the album and are "conquering" Europe at the moment. "Song #1" has become the hymn of "Eurovision" (I haven't talked to any Eurovision fan who didn't like Russian 2007 entry in all honesty!). The 4th place was taken by Kenan Doğulu, the Turkish representative, with, probably, the catchiest song in the entire show, "Shake it up Şekerim", scoring 163 points. The most ethnic song of the night was "Water", sung in bulgarian by the duo Elitza Todorova and Stoyan Yankoulov. National bulgarian motives, incredible voice of the vocalist, the stunning performance on the whole was truly appreciated. The song came fifth scoring 158 points. 2007 was the first, and the only year to-date, when Belarus qualified into the final. After the début year's, 2005, fiasco with the bookmakers favourite Angelica Agurbash, the once again, bookmakers' favourite Dmitry Kodun managed to finally qualify. And not only qualify. "Work Your Magic" came 6th!
