Eurovision Song Contest for the first time was held in Moscow, Russia. The winner of the contest was Norway and, born in Belarus, Norwegian young folk singer, Alexander Rybak. Many people predicted him winning with the song Fairytale, which eventually became true. Even in Norway, on the National Final of "Melodi Grand Prix", held every year in order to determine the song which goes to Eurovision that time? Alexander won by "miles" from his contenders. And when it was confirmed that Rybak is going to Eurovision there was no doubt he's going not to participate, but to win. Since the first seconds of the votes' announcement Norway was leading the scoreboard and not for a single moment gave this place to somebody else, only increasing the gap more and more. The second place was taken by another one scandinavian country, beautiful Iceland. 18-year old singer Yohanna with the song "Is It True?" brought the country back to the Top 3 in the contest. Third place was held by the collaboration of well known here, in Russia, singer Arash, born in Iran, and Azerbaijani AySel. This good result was anticipated by public and Aysel/Arash did justify the expectations.

Turkish representative - Hadise came as high as 4th. The local "fights" on the scoreboard were held mainly between Iceland and Azerbaijan, Turkey and UK, because when the voting announcement was taking place all of them swapped their places after almost every single vote. So it was really "down to the wire" for them. It's worth noticing that for the first time since 2002 when UK and France finished Top 10 either of them went back there, in fact, surprisingly, both did. UK came 5th with Estonia shaking their history in the contest (they did not qualify from the Semifinal last year). Urban Symphony who represented Estonia in 2009 with the song "Rändajad" sung in Estonian. Despite this language bareer the song was loved by loads of people, finishing higher than one of the favourite with the bookmakers, Greece. Sakis Rouvas for the second time represented Greece on Eurovision and 5 years later came 4 places lower than his previous result, 3rd place. Apart from Sakis, chiara for the third time was representing Malta in the contest. Those two times she came 3rd and second respectively but never won. But, unfortunately, this time wasn't lucky for her either. In fact, she even came 22nd. Russia was represented this year by Anastasiya Prikhodko. Nastya came 11th, only 1 point away from 10th placed Armenia.
